that i need to install other than a tire rotation and air pressure. STFA

mom's first oil change is due. our dealer is notorious for putting in dyno oil so i'm doing it myself. i'm going to get the kit from ECS plus the scwaben drain tool.

what size socket is needed for the filter housing, 36mm?

Default what year is her car?

if it's an 08, they are required to put in synthetic.

older years they were not.

if you have free maintenance, use it. if you don't have an 08, buy the oil, and bring the oil to the dealer with you and tell them to put it in

if it's a true vag-com cable they have an upgrade program.

Default Budget plenty of time for first oil change- filter is a learning experience!

The under-tray seems to get more difficult to remove on each audi generation, must be up to what, 42 bolts on the B7?
The Schwaben tool helps with the mess quite a bit, but can be a biotch to get threaded on. Pop the oil filler cap so it drains freely.
I use a oil filter wrench (band style) to remove the filter canister.
You do NOT need a Vag-com to reset the service reminder- see the owners manual.

And I'm with you- I skipped the free 1st change and did it myself too. Peace of mind, learning experience, less time and hassle.

Default thanks for the input, didn't have the manual in front of me, ordered the updated cable already

sucks, i didn't have the owners manual nearby. oh well it won't hurt having the ability to diagnose this car. she's going to have it for years and years to come.

what's holding on the undertray? torx heads?
