Default Failed Instrument Cluster

I tried to start my 2008 Audi A4 B7 a couple of weeks ago.
When I did the engine would run for about 2 seconds then shut off.
The instrument cluster would not show any Fault lights and the tach would never show engine RPM's when the engine was running.

Long story short is I had to go to the dealership to get a new instrument cluster, they had to go to the Audi Servers to pull the options the car was setup with at delivery and reprogram my entire car.
Apparently the instrument cluster is the communication interface between the Key Fob and the cars computers. (hence why the engine would start and then shut down as the Key Fob was not recognized as having the proper coding)

For my situation the dealership did try and pull all the information from the car, however due the type of failure I had on the instrument cluster. The coding could not be pulled from the car. So this is why the dealership had to go to their servers.

$1500 later the car works great.
