First 600 miles...25.5 mpg. Can that be right?

Mixed driving...some highway, some local and showing 25.5 mpg average on computer 2. On the "non-cumulative" computer 1, I've seen as much as 28.7 mpg on the highway. This is with a tight, not yet broken in 2.0T, and the Tiptronic. I haven't yet checked this against an actual mpg count...odometer versus pump. Can these numbers be right? It seems almost too good to be true.

I would have to say that it really depends on your driving style (fast starts and stops or what not). I personally have a little more of a lead foot and have been getting about 20 mpg on each tank. So far I have about 4400 miles on the car and I never reset the 2nd trip computer and it shows and average of 21.9 mpg.

what color is your car in your sig?

Jestapilot 11-10-2005 06:22 AM

Sure that's about what I got..

Now i'm up to 32 or so mpg on highway.

RichAA 11-10-2005 07:38 AM

My best over 100 miles was 38.4

I get mid-high 30's on the highway (70 mph 6th gear)

I get better mpg than my wifes 1.8T Tip.

More power + Better milage... good stuff.

I would love to get numbers like this.....

What are your shifting patterns like. Assuming you are on a flat road, at what RPM's or MPH would you shift gears?

Muhammad 11-10-2005 09:04 AM

^^^^ Crazy!

jlew 11-10-2005 01:16 PM

I'm not redlining or anything...

but not granny shifting either.

Three hours of interstate driving in 6th gear (no traffic = no downshifting), it's not hard to get these numbers.

RichAA 11-10-2005 01:27 PM

It's easy: get on a flat highway, accel up to 65, be in 6th, then reset... :-)
