Default Fixed the Passenger Side Airbag Warning Light

After I read this post here: <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b7/msgs/5878.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b7/msgs/5878.phtml</a>, it was a really simple job that only took litterally less than 2 minutes to pull everything apart. Once I popped the button out, I just folded up some black electrical tape behind the button and popped it back on. Turned the car on, I could barely see a hint of yellow light from one upper corner of the far right letter on the button, which is perfect so I know it's still working alright, but otherwise it's now dark and does not light up while I'm driving <img src="http://images.honda-tech.com/set1/smile/emsmile.gif">

Some tips: Just pull the upper panel piece out slow and you'll be fine, starting from the passenger side when you open the glove box. Everything just pops out and snaps back into place. When using tape or something opaque to cover up the light, use something black or dark. I first put some white paper in there but the white color shows up behind the letters so rather than lighting up yellow, they're shown in a faint white color all the time. So use something dark like black eletrical tape, unless you want the letters to stand out.

Next project, find somebody in the So Cal area that has a VAGcom unit, who will be able to give me a hand (I'll compensate for it) to get rid of my seatbelt warning chimes. That, and I need to throw on the Eibach springs I have sitting here for it.

Default It can be done even simpler

Since I wrote the original description, I found that this can be done even simpler, you don't need to pull the top plastic piece off. Take two small flat screwdrivers, wedge them to the right of the "button" between it and the next, and pop it off. A bent paper clip would probably do the same.

I have modified a friend's car this way.

Default Heh, now you tell me

But still, it was very easy and maybe took less than 5 minutes total to pop the panel and button off, and then to pop them back in.

Default Re: Fixed the Passenger Side Airbag Warning Light

I did the same as this guy and you will always still get the indication in the information display in the center of the gauges that the airbag is disabled (but that goes OFF). Another point is that if you attempt to disconnect that amber LED in behind the plastic faux button you would have a fault code in your system. Who knows, but I don't want that being a warrenty issue. I tried all types of overlays of plastic and cellophane to make the light look red, but it never looked matching - so electrical tape it is!

Default More that just a fault code

Disconnecting the wire will turn on the Air Bag warning light on the dash, as I described originally.

Default Turning it Red

I am going to try this and use something that is tinted red - maybe some holiday saran wrap or a single layer of red electrical tape?
