Default Forge DV Log Results -- Very pleased!

First, thanks to HID for posting the DIY on the Forge DV install. You are a much more patient person than I for doing that write up!

I am MORE than pleased with the results! I actually didn't have high hopes of this diverter valve. I had the expectation that it would hold just as much boost as the OEM DV -- the real benefit that I was looking for was the quality and not having to worry about another torn OEM DV. But after doing some data-logging, this product as proved to be a true performance modification! As you can see, it holds boost significantly better than the OEM DV:

Default Which DV did you test, and where can I get one?

The only DV's I see on ecstuning.com is the OEM one and a Forge Adjustible DV/Blow off valve.

They stock forge DV's for other engines, just not the 2.0T.

Thanks!

Default Are you sure your stock DV was fully functional, a few others have logged and seen no changes

when compared to a 100% functional stock valve. Forge doesn't even really claim that there will be performance benefits.

Default Hm....

You should've done some runs with an OEM DV as a baseline.

Default Yes, the baseline was a relative new (2 month old) OEM DV

Actually, Forge has said that this DV provides better boost response, less taper, and is more reliable.

Please link me to the A4 2.0T logs representing the same comparison that you speak of -- I'd like to see them. Hopefully, you aren't referring to the VWs because that is not comparing apples to apples.

Not sure what you mean -- the first log was the OEM DV

Default Um its the same thing.. sorry comparing an engine to an engine in this regards

is apples to apples... just because its in a VW whether it be a passat, jetta, eos, gti, or in an A3, or an A4 FWD or AWD doesn't change a damn thing about how the valve functions..

And I have seen DVs go bad whithin days.. you have it out now are there any tears in it.. simply saying that it was only 2 months old and not actualy answering my question means you probably didn't even take the time to look before putting up these charts.

Default Let me know when you're ready to bring this back up to an adult level

However, I will indulge you with my two OEM DV's. You can see the one that is torn and the new one (left) that is perfectly fine:

<img src="http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m180/Thelnferno/Audi/DV001.jpg?t=1183911521">

I can only comment on my car -- comparing my car to another car (longitudinal vs. transverse) would be absurd because you have no idea what the other person's driving habits are compared to mine which can adversly affect the longetivety of a DV, which at this point is moot because you can see above that one DV is fine and one is bad. On my K04, the original OEM DV lasted 20k miles. The second OEM DV had a little over 1K miles. For some reason, you have your mind made up that because my logs don't look like some other person's logs, they can't be real or whatever. Doesn't bother me -- I'm not the one missing out on any boost

Default Adult level,, you were asked a question and now you are having a fit.. mature

I have seen DVs fail in days so I simply just pointed out that just becuase it was on the new side doesn't mean that it was still ok. You simply answered with it was new and made no indication that you even looked at it to see if it. So sorry if I brougth up some valid points.

as for your Vw comparison, sorry but that was just idiotic. The valve functions exactly the same way on any of these engines. It is specfic to the engine not the vehicle that it is in. so it really doesn't matter if some logs were from a golf or some from an A4 or some from an A3. You happen to be the only person so far that shows it holding more boost. Even forge came into a post on the other side which you happened to now post on that they didn't expect it to hold any more boost in a car with a fully functioning DV.

I also never said I didn't believe your graphs.. All I am saying is that if a DV is 100% functioning stock and you put in a Forge DV there is absolutely no reason why it will hold more boost. Its really that simple.

and I am not missing out on any boost either.. forge or stock valve don't even fit my car anymore..
