Shouldn't your warranty have coverd the 15k service?

Default No. Warranty has nothing to do with scheduled maintenance after 5k. A common misconception.

Prior to the 2007 MY, Audis sold in North America came with the "Audi Advantage" maintenance plan free of charge. It covered all scheduled maintenance through 45k and some wear and tear items not covered by warranty.

But that was a different entity than the manufacturer's new car warranty.

Starting with MY '07, AoA discontinued the free "Audi Advantage" plan. The first scheduled service (5k) is still free.

People who want to prepay for scheduled maintenance (at a slightly reduced rate) can purchase the "Audi Care" maintenance plan. The Audi Care plan covers scheduled maintenance only.

That has no relation, at all, to the manufacturer's new car warranty.

Default Not bad for a full service. 15K service is a little more then just an oil change.

If you just wanted an oil change instead of all the little checks that the 15K service does you might have saved a little.

When I take the RS4 in for just an oil change between services it's $155 for a mini service it's a bit over $300.

When I bought my 08 RS4 I purchased the service package since it really does save a few $100 over the full 50K.

It's about $40 in parts and 30 minutes labor.

Default How to tell if dealer really changed oil?

They could just reset the computer and hand the car back to you "as is" and you won't even know.

Check the dip stick if you're paranoid. It will be OBVIOUS.

Default Granted that is high for an oil change. But almost reasonable for a "15k service."

Have you had any Japanese cars? Most Japanese car dealerships want over $300 for a 15k service. Not even luxury cars.
When my mom had her 1999 Subaru Outback the stealership wanted to charge $369 for a 15k service, including a $90 charge to "clean" the spark plugs. I nearly tore the service manager a new a-hole for that one. I asked him, "Are you telling me that these cars are so poorly designed that they foul spark plugs in as little as 15k miles?" I told him that I didn't believe that they actually "clean" spark plugs.

That was almost 10 years ago. I don't even want to know how much they charge now for a 15k service. But my wife has a Subaru, and we use the local dealership. They aren't cheap either.

So while a 15k service is little more than an oil change and a bunch of visual inspections, $225 is pretty cheap by comparison.
