Getting key fob to work correctly with memory seat settings
Here's an interesting little nuisance issue. Both my wife and myself have set up our key fobs to recall our seat memory settings when pressing the unlock button on the fob. This is done by holding down the memory, then holding down the memory button and the unlock button on the fob for two seconds. When synchronized, I'll get a double beep or two directional signal flashes on the dashboard.
Here's the problem. When either of us hit the unlock on our fobs, the seats will move to their memory position, but not the mirrors. On other occasions, I've noticed that my seat stops short of the full memory position. I've tried reprogramming the fobs twice now, but the results are always the same.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions?

Maybe it's not finished before you open the door...that's why it seems like it's caught mid-way.
I couldn't get this work on my car at all so I'm just guessing. I followed the directions in the manual and nothing happened. Gave up after a few tries.

Opening the door starts it...
...after you hit the unlock button. Once you open the door, the seats start going to their memory position. I wait until they're finished, but there's always some setting that didn't "take". The memory seats work fine by themselves.

What the manual doesn't tell you
is that the ignition must be on. I tried by the book and finally had the dealer do it, who pointed out the nuance.
Much easier with the A6... seat position is remembered to whatever key locked the car.

Possibly the mirror switch in the wrong position
Not that I've seen this problem or have the power seats in my car but some cars require the mirror switch to not be set in the left or right adjust position.

opposite of mine
my '00 A6 Avant (yeah, I know, another car, another forum) with memory seats for some reason sets the mirrors first, then the seats, and IIRC, the mirrors start moving when you hit "unlock" on the fob, but the seats don't start moving until the driver door is open, thereby making the driver wait a few extra seconds
not the end of the world, just strange
