Default Headrest Noise

Anyone experiencing passenger-side headrest noise? Unless there is someone sitting in the passenger's seat and press back against the headrest with their head, there is a VERY annoying ticking. Wondering if anyone had dealt with this. Thanks

Default that "ticking" noise comes from the rear seats in my car, and...

drives me insane cuz u could always hear it even if the radio is turned up fairly loud. think ima stick a napkin or something in the latches on the back seats :/

Default YES!

I gave up in trying to figure out what it is, so I got use to it, until you reminded me about it I have it in the driver side also, when I slightly rest my head on it I hear a faint "click".

Default Won't be doing that

There's a reason why the headrest won't go down (I think you know why). I used to have the headrest all the way down in the B5 and was always told by driving instructors that my headrest was way too low.

I noticed that when I was pushing back on the seat, more specifically upper part of the seat while seated, I noticed that the headrest would slightly move forward. In previous A4s, Audi hasn't been getting to greatest rating in terms of neck injury in the event of a rear end collisions. Forcing the headrest to remain higher and moving forward appears to address this.

Default Same here...

I have the same noise. I've tried monkeying around with it and it does go away...mostly. I may even chat with my dealer about it (only had the car 5 days!)

Default Yes, I have that too....

Showed it to the dealer during 5K maintenance. They fixed it and it lasted for a week, after which the noise was back.

Pretty freakin annoying although that's the only complaint I could possibly have about the magnificient car...

Default FIXED!!! How to fix here:

I've had problem from day one and it drove me insane. Here's the best way to fix it.

Take the head rest out. Get a roll of black electrical tape and wrap the metal ends with a thin layer. The sound is from metal to metal contact at the bottom of the headrest shaft. Put the headrest back in and VOLA! Clicking is gone. Give it a shot!
