Earlier years had adjustable headrests. By that I mean the headrest (head restraints) on my 2001 A4 were adjustable in TILT--could be adjusted to change the angle of the front surface of the head restraint to more vertical angle.

In the 2007 they are not adjustable--only adjust in height.

Is there an aftermarket replacement that is adjustable? Or maybe the headrest from an earlier year would work?


I don't see a forum about seats or interior. Is there a more appropriate forum to post this?

2007 A4 quattro manual, xenon, sports susp, leather, Sirius. Older sport seats in my 2001 A4 1.8T were MUCH more comfortable!

Sounded like it be about $800 in parts from the dealer for the earlier years' head restraint--but those WOULDN'T fit!

Since this is a new car, I'm asking about parts I can buy new, not used.

Dealer claims that NO head rest (head restrain) from earlier years will fit 2007 A4 2.0T with leather seats. Claims the rails were changed to make that impossible.

Anybody know if that claim that the rails that hold the head restraint have been changed so that head rests from earlier years will not fit, is true or just talk to protect against law suits?

No speculation please, I can speculate about that answer myself. Please answer only if you know.

Of course, the parts information available at the parts department of the dealer doesn't specify the rail spacing for the 2007 version.

Surprised that aren't more complaints about the 2007 head restraints that don't adjust in angle. Maybe it is only us older folks who find the new ones so uncomfortable?!
