Default Help identify this part please (have pics).

While trying to find the cause of a clunk when I drive over moderate bumps (that the dealer could not find a thing wrong). I noticed the part pictured below. It sits between the bumpstop and the top of the suspension. I have been researching doing a coilover install, and haven't noticed mention of this piece.

Also while digging around, there was a broken one of these actually stuck between two spring coils.

The part # is 8e0 412 117 a, which I cannot find anywhere online.

Default That's what's left of a shipping block

It should have been removed during dealer prep and, obviously, wasn't.

So not only did your dealer fail to remove that block during prep, they were unable to find it while diagnosing your problem.

"Unacceptable" doesn't even begin to describe that.

A random shippong block might sometimes get overlooked during prep. That's not right but it does happen.

But to fail to remove it during prep and then not find it when working a suspension issue........

Your service manager owes you an apology.

Well I am the 2nd owner of the vehicle. But yes, I am irked because when I took it in they said they inspected the suspension and found nothing. Gut feeling is they thought I was just being a naggy customer and did nothing.

This was on the passenger side, my driver side has it too!

Do they also put these on the rear?

I am surprised the first owner never noticed anything wrong.

Haha...I knew it! If I were you I'd definetly have a conversation with Morrison about it. Essentially saying, "Hey, I'm confused, you guys said you checked out the suspension but if you did why were the shipping blocks left in?"

Or something like that.

As silly as it would be for them to be left in on a new car (which does happen unfortunately) it's CRAZY to think that these have never been removed in the 4 years it's been on the road. I wonder if Morrison has been doing this with all their Audis, haha!
