High mileage 2.0T Quattro, what to look out for??
Hi Guys I'm new on here so please be gentle!
I'm contemplating a 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro SE Sline Avant with just over 100k miles on the clock. The car has had one owner from new and a full Audi dealer service history.
Apart from the usual little things that can go wrong with motors with this mileage what else should I be on the look out for? Are there any components I should be looking to replace as a precaution?
Your thoughts would be most welcome on this car as I'm undecided at present.
Thanks

From what I read as long as the timing chain (belt) and cam follower are addressed these are pretty solid cars. If you have all the records you should be able to see what was done and what still needs to be done (tune up and such). I just bought an 80 A4 with 69k and have no concerns. I have all the records and can see it was very well maintained. If the price is right and everyhting else checks out you should be good to go.

by no means comprehensive, but my added 2 cents:
- check CV boots for condition - cracks, tears, signs of grease, pliability. don't forget to check inners and outers for front and rear (if quattro)
- listen for 'clicking' from said CV joints during test drive
obvious stuff:
- clutch and synchros during test drive
- even tire wear
- color of fluids
- check for excessive pull (left or right bias) during moderate braking
the already stated concerns:
- timing belt replacement (service interval addendum is at 110k miles but previous recommended interval was 75k miles)
- water pump replacement
Service records are great, if they have them. Read the tech's notes, too. Also take note of any notes regarding MIL on for "misfire" codes. There seems to be 'some' growing concern for carbon build up on these early model direct injection 2.0T's

The HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) CAM Follower wearing through and damaging the engine CAM.
