I was thinking about getting the B8 2.0T Avant but if the oil filter is like the B7 I'm passing and
finally trying a different brand. I have bought nothing but Audi's for the past 5 years but I'm serious that the oil filter will be my deciding factor for the B8.
I'm very stubborn in this aspect.
The less my car is in the hands of the mediocre Audi techs the long it seems to go without any problems. Once it's in things start to go and your in over and over.

What a sad reason to justify a car selection. Why not just bone-up on yer oil changing skillz...
What about the other more technically involved maintenance items?
Do you plan on getting all the diagnostic equipment into your garage?
Oil changes is a must but seriously a pretty straight forward function regardless of some additional gyrations that one needs to make.

2nd the sad reason (v), but if you must know....
The B8 2.0T is a new design and yes it has a 'standard' type of screw on canister filter that is accessible from the top.
But......please don't buy one.
