Instrument cluster failure - LCD replacement ?
 

I've found nothing on this about apparently common pixel failure of the instrument display. Mine works fine only if outside temp is between about 40-70F; colder or warmer and pixels disappear. There are after market vendors who will repair for about $200, but I also came across a Chinese OEM supplier of replacement LCD displays (SACER Part No. 1230), for about $40. They claim no soldering required. Anyone have any thoughts ? Has anyone discovered any other easy DIY solution ? Removing the cluster is very easy but I won't take the risk on soldering since I'm a novice in that category.
