Me and my good friend who has a BMW 330ci raced eachother one night. The A4 had an amazing start every time. The Race was close though, I won by not even a full car-length in distance. My car is relatively stock, except for the K&N air filter I installed on it.

Are both cars auto's ?
That K&N is not really worth it. Bad for MAF if anything.

Default OMG, please do not instill these myths on the B7 crowd!

Bottom line is....don't over oil the filter and everything will be just fine. Use common sense and you'll have no problems. Problems arise when people use too much oil on the filter when they clean it. For good measure, you should also stick the filter in a plastic bag and swing it around for a few minutes in order to pull any excess oil out of it prior o install.

I have had 3 different Audis, K&N on all of them. Never any problem with a bad MAF. I have currently had one on my B6 for over 60K.

I have also seen MAFs go using the stock paper filter. Not to mention, youur mileage is worse with the stock element.

Use the K&N appropriately and you'll be happy. If you destroy your MAF from over oiling, luckily, you're under warranty now anyways. K&N's do not void warranties.
