Default My impressions of the tiptronic and another weird observation

Basically I think it sucks. When I am pushing it off the line, the shift delay between 1st and 2nd is bad. Has anyone else found this? If so, how do you get around it? Also I've tried to get some wheel spin but I'm having a hell of a time. Is it because of the quattro?

The other "weird" thing that I have noted is that in the morning when I leave for work, I get some wobble in the wheel like the tires are out of balance. It eventually goes away. Has anyone else experienced this?

2006 A4, premium, sunroof, quartz grey.

I have not experienced any of the problems you have. Very happy with tiptronic.

Try turning off the ESP. I've found the delay to somewhat go away when ESP is off. Wheel spin will be limited by quattro and especially if you are still stock. Also if you have the goodyear tires, expect some issues with the balance. They are crappy tires. Check out the reviews on tire rack's web site.

Default Same

1. horrible off the line. shouldve gotten stick. but the tiptronic does NOTHING...

2. its been a couple of days that my wheel wobbles too. I still have my winter tires on and I was thinkin they're out of balance but now that u mention it, it does seem very weird. The wobble comes and goes...

3. I dont know if its just paranoia but I think my engine sound is louder than before. Even with the windows up I can hear the car idle pretty loud..

Default yes that 1-2 delay stinks...I have it.....it will take like at least 300hp/tq to spin wheels on the

quattro....get an alignment/speed balanced.

you learn to use the tiptronic as you go.... i.e. shifting a little before you know will need to

Default My experience

Having come from prior A4 sticks, I agree the tip takes a lot of fun away (wife couldn't drive it - lost the debate). S mode seems to improve off the line performance a lot, and you can always switch between D and S anytime w/o harm. BTW w/ESP off and 93 APR program my tip will spin tires off the line in S mode. I had wobble in wheel too, but balancing helped a lot. I think all the OE tires Audi used on the B7 stink - including the Contis.

Thanks everyone. I have the Goodyears. I can't get the wheelspin even with the ESP off. Not that I really care too much, but I wanted to see what it was like with the quattro. I'm going to bring it back to the dealer to get the wheels rebalanced and we will see what is up.

Overall I am pretty happy with the car.

My car did this for awhile after I first picked it up. However, after consistantly accelerating briskly from a stop for a coule of days, it all but disappeared. The car started holding first gear a bit longer and that seemed to solve the problem.
