Default Captive lease rates are not competitive. I went with a 335i sedan

My 2-year/20K mile lease on the 2006 A4 2.0T S-linehad a residual of 75%. The same lease today on a 2007 in June 2007 was only 63%, and that's before the 1 or 2% hit for S-line.

I am getting 63% residual on a 3-year/36K mile lease on a 335i sedan. I've been very happy with my A4, but frankly I don't see any way of coming back to Audi if I decide to lease again. The residual values are simply not competitive.

Default Lease rates varies constantly...

Currently, a 2007 A4 Quattro sedan and a 2007 BMW 335i sedan has a residual of 60% and 61% respectively for a 3 year 36K lease. Money factor is the same at 0.00175.

Default 335i is still at 63%, the A4 3.2 quattro S-line is nearly 10 points lower

I didn't want to get another 2.0T, but the V6 A4 is simply not competitive on a lease. Frankly, I'd be curious to know why anyone would lease a 3.2 these days when the G35, IS350, 335i, etc. offer so much more for a lower monthly payment.

Default Audi Lease Rates Suck!

Lease rates do vary consistently but Audi's have consistently been BAD for the last year.

Here's what BMW is charging for their 335:

2007 BMW 335i Sedan
24 Month - Residual 71% of MSRP - .00175 Base Rate
36 Month - Residual 61% of MSRP - .00175 Base Rate

Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms

I'm getting a loaded 335i (MSRP $49.9K) for $1K over invoice. For 2 years 10K per, the payment is $633 per month including tax (Zero Down). BMW has outstanding residuals.

Check out the following link:

http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/financing/

My first Audi was a 2001 S4. Then I leased a 2004 A4 1.8T S line. The lease on that dog is finally over.

Frankly, until Audi turns things around, I will not lease another one.

Why pay $600+ per month for a 4 cylinder 200 horsepower engine that does not have the maintenance package included anymore (again zero down)? Yeah, I know you can chip it...but that can void your warranty! And yes the interior is nice, but it really has not changed much over the years. For the same payment, you can get a 335 that is faster than the current S4 (and handles better), AND has decent fuel economy. Before you flame me...go drive a 335...I was never a BMW fan until I drove it.

I do love Audi, but they are falling far behind in terms of value and performance.
All is not lost...there is a glimmer of light with the new A5 platform.

Who knows, maybe I'll be back in 2009!

Default What is the current residual on a 3.2 ?

I have a 3.2 Avant on order, dealer could not tell me what the residual and MF would be in August when it's supposed to arrive. If it's really bad I may have to walk. The 2004 I have also had a terrible residual but they made up for it with a very low MF.

Default When I ordered my 335i, the sedan 3.2 Q was 53% before S-line deduction

I think starting with the 2007 model, S-line dropped the residual by 2%, but you would get 1% of it back if you got the $550 maintenance program. Avant residuals are at least 1 point lower than the sedan. You would be wise to check the roadfly.com leasing/fiancing forum for the latest terms (see link posted by me a few posts up).

Default Thanks...

When I bought my B6 Avant in Aug 04, residual was 49% and MF was 0.00032 so not that different. Hopefully the residual will be higher in Aug as it is the beginning of the model year. I hope this works out as I want the Avant, if BMW had a 335 wagon things might be different.

Default Certainly you leased the BMW for more than just a good lease rate (?)

Care to elaborate on your decision?
