myth or truth?
prolly been talked about before, but can the tiptronic trany (on a quattro) handle the exra power from the apr chip and the upcoming exhaust system reliably? I hear the manual transmission is much more stable/reliable than the triptronic, and that the CVT (multitronic) is quite weak and might not handle the extra torque. myth or truth?

The TIP for the B7 shouldnt be a prob. CVT may still be a prob....
The new tip is rated to handle pretty high levels of torque, while the ZF CVT is only rated at around 230tq but since Audi has modified it to handle their 3.1 it can obviously handle a bit more, but I certainly wouldnt bet 8 grand on it handling much more than the 3.1 throws at it which a chipped 2.0 would do. cheers! Some truth to it, but the manual trannies have issues too..
If you overwhelm the capability of the manuals, the clutch is usually the failure point, and *relatively* cheap to replace. Installing a new clutch for $1200 isn't fun, but rebuilding a CVT after a chain snapped for $8,000 is a bit worse.
