I am considering getting lowering springs on my A4 since in its stock state could be confused for an Allroad. Will it rub? Will they help the car handle better?

If your car is that high (Allroad-ish) I will assume you have the non-sport suspension. If all you get is lowering springs you will have dampers that are mismatched and your ride will suffer. Consider getting a good shock/ damper combination. Ecs tuning sells an H&R (iirc) and bilstein combo, and that is frequently mentioned as a quality setup. I do not believe that there were major suspension changes from the B6 to the B7, so that should open up more available parts for you.

If you stick to a spring with a mild drop and rates, you will be fine. I found myself in this exact scenario, and got Eibach Pro Kit. The drop, for me, is perfect, and the ride has not suffered one single bit.

B6 and B7 springs are interchangeable BTW
