New to Audi: just bought an 06 A4 2.0T 6MT FWD - some performance questions!
Hi guys, I've been looking around trying to find what the stock performance numbers are for my new Audi. I read 0-60 in 7.1 in an Audi brochure. The car feels faster than that but I realize that a turbo MT car is going to feel a lot faster than a non turbo or automatic car even if it's not. I can't find any 1/4-mile numbers though.
Also, I'm interested in getting the APR program that will bump me up to 241hp and 292tq on 93 octane (which is what premium is around here) and was wondering roughly what kind of performance numbers I might be able to expect with that upgrade and nothing else, and also if I turn the program off when bringing it in for dealer service if there's any way they might notice it, and lastly if it's safe or if it's going to be a headache of check engine lights, misfires, broken parts, etc?
Thanks!

Hehe, as from a recent post here, it'll keep up with an M3
From what I have heard in terms of chipping and taking your car into service, some dealers are fine with it but of course, if things do go wrong (ie. turbo blow) they may say your warranty is denied if they determine your car is flashed. They may also ask you if it's chipped if they suspect if it's been modified. They may also do some data logging during their test drive and make sure all of the parameters are within spec and if they aren't they may make a note of that in the service log.
Having said that I know of people that are chipped and never had problems getting service, while others have had their turbos blown on their S4 and had to fight to get the turbos replaced under warranty.... so your experience may vary.
I'm tempted in getting APR'ed but it's the warranty hassle that I won't want to deal with, so in the end, if you're willing to play the game of hiding it from the dealer and possibly shelling out money in the event a part that does fail and the dealer refuses to warranty it, then go for it. Of course there are consumers rights where you can modify their car and the service dept. has to prove that it was the aftermarket component that caused the failure.

I am having the same dilemma...
I have the same car as you but mine is leased. So since it is leased i'm definately hesitant as to get the APR chip. I'd really love the extra power though, but i think i have to resist because of the warrenty problem. Its a risky choice no doubt, but it will be worth it in the end if i get it, or you for that matter. Let me know what you do and if your ride is leased. thanks

Does FWD mean Front Wheel Drive or Four Wheel Drive.
Audi calls it either FrontTrack or Quattro
Didn't think FrontTrack was available in a 6-speed manual transmission (6MT), only Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which should not be chipped.

FWD means Front Wheel Drive. In older days it used to stand for 'four wheel drive' sometimes, but nobody really uses that anymore, they say 4WD or AWD.

And yes, it's a 6-speed manual FWD (Front Trak)
