New owner here; question about front sway bar dimension
Hi everyone,
As the title states, I recently bought a CPO 2006 A4 2.0T manual. I'm extremely happy with the car even though it doesn't have the sport suspension like I wanted, but it's hard to be choosy with such things, especially in this part of the country. Anyway, the ride quality is fine, but I would like to dial out some of the roll and understeer without investing in new springs and dampers right now. I've been searching this forum for a while, and it seems that the RS4 bar is a popular upgrade. The one thing that I cannot clarify is whether the front sway bar is the same diameter on the A4 nonsport, A4 sport, S4, and RS4. I've seen that it is 29mm on the non-sport and 32mm on the sport, S4, and RS4. Is this correct or are they all the same?
For those of you who have the non-sport OE suspension and have done the RS4 mod, are you happy with the result, or in hindsight do you wish you had just gone with the 18mm or 20mm? I'm use to driving rear wheel drive cars (my other car is an S2000), so I'm curious how such a large change in ARB stiffness from 16mm to 22mm will affect a car with quattro.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: 2nd...and relatively cheap, I bought mine from a buddy
Are the bigger brackets necessary or just make it easier to install? Seems like most people just re-use the A4 ones.

2nd...why cut corners when considering the consequences down the road.
Imagine having those sway bar brackets pop off on a long road trip or track event....I would pay the 20-40 bucks for the brackets and longer bolts...Also cut install time as everything will easily slap together the proper way.

Completely agree.
Just strange that in all the posts and DIY installations I've read, everyone uses the old A4 brackets and bolts.
Thanks for the advice.
Any idea on those front sway bars?
