I know the 2.0t engines allow higher rev-limit compared to the 1.8t engine and its also obvious that unlike N/A high-rev engines, there's no sense in going to the redline to get the most out of our engines.
I was wondering if anyone has done any "scientific" experimentation of what is a good point to shift at what gear (probably varies by different tuner like APR, GIAC, Neuspeed, etc)? I'm sure a dyno chart would probably help but I was just curious as I saw the article on Audiworld main page of the engine. It looks like torque curve starts declining after 5k rpm and hp a little after 6k rpm. Any thoughts?

I worked up a spreadsheet for this. It plots torque at the wheels vs road speed. In 1, 2, and 3, shift at redline: 34, 62, and 90 MPH.

Into 5th at 122, and 6th at 150 (after you remove the limiter, on that 1 mile downhill run...).

Shifting at or around 5000 rpm keeps you in ideal torque range. This 2.0T engine has a lot of torque down low and if you wind it out to redline you miss much of the power band.

Try it out.

I cant seem to access ross tech's site to refrence the tutorial on logging the data required and the calculations required to come up with this plot...

However, The spreadsheet calculates your acceleration and that is the curve you relate your shift point plot to.
