Default OVERHEATING ISSUES...ONLY ON THE FREEWAY?

took my car to 120-125mph come to find out my coolant warning light came on...temp was on hot until i reduced my speed. my car doesn't seem to overheat if i drive at low speeds, but the moment i hop on the freeway and start to pick up normal highways speeds (60mph)the temp gauge will climb- only if i slow down the gauge will go back to noon. any ideas? oh and the car dosen't over heat at idle?! weird!
please help new to the audi world...seems this is a common problem

Uhm, Kevin, give the man a break. He's just excited about his Audi, and he wants to turn it into sauce or something, judging by the nickname.

Now, salsa... I only took the car over 120-125mph twice. To 130 to be more exact (I think, not sure though, that this is the equivalent of 230kmh). I drove it over 110 for about one hour each of the two times. I don't know how long you drove yours so fast for, but mine had no problem. I think it would be best to take it to the dealer's.

Default it's just that I've only done it once or twice ever....

and it was only for a minute or so (back when I was 19)....these days you can easily loose your license for that kind of speeding and kill yourself and others that much easier. To me it's not worth it...I just smirk when I read about the people who do it on a daily basis for extended periods of time..... I'll run a grandma from a red light...but I wouldnt risk it all at those speeds.

Each is free to make their own judgement. I, for instance, am a libertarian in this matter, and I agree to anyone driving exactly as they please as long as they don't disturb me or others. That includes me going 250km/h if I feel that way and if there's no other car on the highway except mine(as was the case when I did 130mph)

Default Eastern Europe. Romania.

Don't worry, it's almost impossible to do it here as well... Not because somebody might be after you, that's the least of your problems anyway. The roads look like someone's always digging on them though... It's a waste of shock absorbers to go too fast.

Going to bed now, see you around Kevin. Have a nice evenining,

Default You did better than you thought! (230 km/h = 143 mph)

Laws differ in each US state and Canadian province/ territory, but in California, you receive an automatic 30-day license suspension if you are ticketed for a speed in excess of 100 mph (160 km/h), and will likely be cited for reckless driving, which results in increased insurance rates.

Fortunately, speed cameras are generally not used here (yet), but the Highway Patrol uses radar, patrol cars, motorcycles and aircraft to enforce the law. If you drive that fast here, it's a matter of time before you'll be speaking to a judge.
