oversized brakes on 08 A4
My 2008 A4 SE, must have over sized brakes, as 16" Audi wheels don't clear the brakes. I wanted these for a winter set of tires. I was told 16" wheels can be used, so why did Audi include larger brakes with SE package and not mention it on window sticker?

Its very possible that the SE got different brakes, but there not listed in package on window sticker and Audi's site.

You sure about that? I thought all B7 brakes were the same.
Big brakes are nothing to complain about anyway, and not all 16" rims are created the same.
I have a set of Audi OEM 16"s that will clear my brakes (I think - did a test fitting and never actually put them on). They're the fat and chunky 5-spoke ones.

No special brakes on the SE.
The 2008 SE is a last ditch effort on Audi's part to move B7s just prior to the B8 arrival.
SE includes the below:

Your itemizing what is listed by Audi, but mine came through with over sized calipers & pads, same as what is found on sport suspension. So I visited a dealers lot in NJ last night, and sure enough the NON SE 2008 has a smaller front brake caliper. This means they included the larger calipers with the SE, but didn't specify it in package.

They're not bigger on the SE...
All B7's have the same brakes. The S4 even has the same caliper with a slightly larger rotor. It's common knowledge that it's difficult to find wheels that'll clear the brakes on our cars (which you'd know if you used the <a href="http://search.audiworld.com/search.html">SEARCH</a> feature). I know all about it (as do many other people with B7 A4's) because I spent months looking for wheels that I liked, that would actually fit without spacers, or filing the calipers.
There are tons and tons of wheels around that have the right bolt pattern and offset, that won't actually fit on a B7 A4. Even most of the wheels that fit on a B6 A4 won't clear the B7's brakes.
