Default Which parts of my door trim are leather?

I've been cleaning and conditioning my seats / central arm rests, but which parts of the door trim are leather? Is the actual armrest leather (I assume it is, but it feels different for some reason)? Is the soft trim against the door, encompassing the area surrounding the armrest, below the trim and above the door stowage unit, leather?

Thanks,

Jon.

Default None!

The only real leather is on steering wheel, shift boot (if manual) and just the center portions of the seats. The rest is "leatherette" (german for vinyl).

Default That's correct.

It's just leather seating surfaces. The steering wheel grip and shift boot are leather too. The rest, I'm afraid, is vinyl.

You get get leather on the 3.2. On the 2.0 and 1.8's only the center piece, the bolsters are vinyl

Default I wish they were...check real close, or pinch it with your fingers, you'll see.

I had leatherette for 4 years on my B5 and another 4 years on my B6. I know the stuff very well and both cars looked brand new after all those years. I actually would have preferred full leatherette seats on my B7, but that wasn't an option. I have to live with the cheap leather inserts they used instead.

I also have real leather on my Porsche 993 and my wife's Lexus. You can tell for sure that the little leather used on the 4 bangers doen't come close to the good stuff.

If you have the B5 2.8, B6 3.0 or B7 3.2, then the complete seating surfaces are truly leather. On the 1.8T and 2.0T, only the center section is leather.

I feel like I just told someone that Santa is not real... Sorry....

Default how about the "sport" alcantara/leather seats? (+)

not the Recaro set, but the sport set you get for extra $800 or something? Is it still alcantara+vinyl?

thanks,
doussia
