Default Pirelli P6 in Snow?

Here in New England, we start to think about snow pretty soon. I have no experience w/the P6 All-Season in the snow. Assuming this is just another 17 inch performance tire w/a misleading label, can anyone suggest a snow tire for my B7?

Default Re: Pirelli P6 in Snow?

I have Pirelli P6's on my A6. I did run them for a while in winter before switching over to Blizzak LM-22 snows. The Pirellis will do okay in snow but have nowhere near the grip of dedicated snows. I noticed this mostly on hard braking and starting from stops. Traction control and ABS engaged too often until I put on the Blizzaks. There are many good lines of high performance snow tires on the market now, but I've been pleased with the LM-22's and will use them on my A4 when it comes in and replaces my A6.

Default Get Dunlop Wintersport M3s or Blizzak LM-25s. Both of comparable performance.

I prefer the M3s.

Default i usually switch over to winter tires, i think they do offer superior grip in the snow compared to

all-seasons. But I'm gonna try the P6 this winter, then probably buy snow tires the following year.

Default OE's on my B6...I went thru the last winter (MA) no issues. Started off no problem, stopping....

is OK. If you're looking for dedicated snows, Blizzaks are pretty good and one of the better ones out there from what I hear.

I've had pretty good luck with Dunlop Graspic DS2's on my Saab 9-3 last winter, that was in Rochester, NY. Good tread life, and great grip. Look pretty sporty, too.

actually, not too bad. Plenty of go traction, stopping and turning are decent.

Default I survived one winter with the P6, but they are not as good as...

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in *any* category (snow/dry/whatever), and not even close to dedicated snows for winter performance. It comes down to personal preference and application, IMO. You bought quattro for a reason, I suppose - with dedicated snows, you have all the control your car can provide.
