Default Poor Gas Mileage for a 2.0T???

So i just got my new A4 2.0T S-line last month and now i have about 2000 miles on the car. I am using my trip computer and it is telling me i am averaging about 19.5 mpg. This is mostly city but i am driving very concervative to try and improve the mpg.
I had a TT 3.2 in the past and that was the same gas mileage i was getting then too!

Whats up with my car?

Default well...

i average around 330miles per tank. thats taking into consideration flooring the car like 4 times during the whole tank. kinda to remind yourself one of the reasons why you bought the car. i drove it once like a complete grama and by this i will be very specific. i have aboost guage btw..i would try to keep the guage reading into the negatives as much as possible when accelerating, would not pass 4 psi what so ever, shifted at 2k rpms instead of like 3500, ac was on always. did not floor it what so ever. doing this lasted me 38x miles if not a little bit more.i know it was very close to 400, and due to that torture, i never did it again. i cant i live in florida, and floridians DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE,specailly in miami. so im always doing 60mph in 45mph zones because the acidents down here are stupid and careless so i need to be stepping on that pedal to get away from everyone. but in average, 98% city driving with 70% stop and go and occasional flooring i get 330-40 tops

Default It's because of the stop and go driving in the city

I get 19-21 mpg in mixed driving with the most being city. Highway, I can easily get 32 mpg, even higher if I drive decently.

Default My city has always sucked...However, I easily rock 32-34mpg on highway at 90mph

I did a round trip from Vail - Boulder - Vail two weeks ago and got a combined 32.5 mpg (calculated by me and the computer) driving at between 65 and 105mph...Driving from Colorado to Iowa, I've done 505 miles on one tank.

As others have said, it depends a lot on how you're driving the car. I have done a number of tests in my car, including getting up onto the freeway and setting the cruise at 65, then resetting the MPG average on a level stretch of road. In that case, I've seen consistent MPG of mid 30's. Driving around the city, OTOH, I usually get in the low 20's. Also, I have seen a big difference between "S" and "D" shift modes of the tip.

One thing to watch out for is that the AVG MPG shown will take some time to update to different driving conditions. Another thing is that the instantaneous MPG is only relevant if you're driving very steady. So the trick I mentioned of resetting the AVG is a decent compromise when you want to take a reading each time your driving conditions change.

Default City: Mid-20s, Highway: Mid-30s.

Your milage will get better as the car gets more miles on it.

I made a trip from Harrisburg Pa to Ann Arbor Mi (520-540 miles) on a single tank way when the car was brand new (~5000 miles). I caculated 32.9mpg.

I've since seen as high as 34mpg caculated from the numbers. (~15,000) I will also note that The car's average reads a bit high and shows 35-38 on those type of trips. In any case... I love this car.

Default The 2.0 simply does not get good mileage.

When I compare it to my 3 previous 4 cylinder cars with turbo motors the 2.0 FSI is less efficient. My mileage really is bad because the Cab w/quattro is heavy and the Tip is the Tip. I get 18 in the city and 24.5 highway.

i couldn't disagree more...my A4 is in the shop getting a DTM front bumper and Titanium grill put on and I'm driving the family beater ( 6 cyl. chrysler concord) ....now THAT gets horrible gas milage...drive something other than your baby for a day and you'll change your tune...im dying driving this thing, and my mom is picking up her 2007 A4 B7 today at 2pm and i get to go home and have that rubbed in my face too....HURRY UP guys

You're forgetting that the 2.0T has a turbo.

Default Anytime that the turbo's used, gas mileage goes down

More air, more fuel. Stop and go traffic will kill mileage. Simple as that. If speed is kept consistent, mileage will be great.

But then mileage doesn't really bother me, as long as it's not getting mileage and range like an RS4! Well... if I did have an RS4 I wouldn't care about mileage to begin with
