Default Possible clues about B8 A4 engine offerings by Audi USA

I just received and completed an online marketing survey from Morpace, Inc. sponsored by AoA for a car in the A4/3-series/TL/Lexus ES or IS/C-Class segment. The survey mainly had to do with how much one is willing to spend on optional items like engine upgrade, nav system and other luxury features.

The hypothetical engine choices in the survey included an inline 4 turbo with 210 hp and 207 lb-ft (0-60 of 7.2), a 3.2 liter V6 with 265 hp and 243 lb-ft (0-60 of 6.8), a low horsepower diesel (about 150 hp and 0-60 of 8.5) and a turbocharged V6 engine with 330 hp and 265 lb-ft (0-60 of 5.8 seconds). Interestingly, both the 265 hp and 330 hp V6 engines were provided identical 18/27 mpg rating. The hypothetical price diffential for the turbo V6 over the NA V6 was about 2 grand.

Based onthis info,I would expect the 2.0T engine to get a modest 10 hp bump (zero trque increase) and that there would be 2 V6 engine choices, the first being the 3.1 V6 offered on the A5 and a turbocharged 3.1 V6 to compete better against the 335i, G35 and IS350. Hopefully the turbo V6 will have more than 265 lb-ft and a 0-60 time in the low 5's.
The 330 hp turbo V6 is certainly an intriguing choice for an A4, but I am surprised about the rather modest torque rating of 265 lb-ft and conservative 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds.

Default I took the survey too

The diesel was an in-line 4 turbo with 175 hp and 30/39 mileage ratings. I would get a diesel, but the price premium over the base engine was $2,000, which would negate enthusiasm for it.

Default I'd take a turbo diesel over a 2.0T for sure

The 2.0T isn't a race motor - it runs out of breath by like 5000 rpm, and the B7 wagon is hardly a race car chassis (its really, really good, but its no race car)

I love getting 29-30mph on the highway in my 2.0T wagon, but i'd like getting 39 even more.

The 2.0T doesn't run out of breath by 5,000 rpm, the turbo does.

Default I didn't have sex with your mom, she had sex with me!

What's the difference? Of course a different turbine (and other bits) could change the characteristics of the engine. I'm talking about the stock demeanor of the powerplant, as delivered by Audi. Obviously.

Stock yet, but once you slap on a BT on the 2.0T it'll be a mean animal.
