Power kicks in after I punch the gas on my 2.0 turbo.
So I'm not quite sure how to explain it. This is my first Audi, and turbo vehicle for that matter. So I'm not sure if maybe it is something that turbo drivers are used to. But when I need to speed up, or pass a car, I step on the gas pedal. But it usually does not kick in for another 1/2 a second or so. I've even floored it before getting a response at higher speeds. Is this what people call "turbo lag" and something I just need to get used to?

Re: I'm confused by both of these responses. Sorry. Explain?
Tomaz@startupracing was right stating that the Turbo on really produces power at higher RPMs whereas 29'er was making a joke referencing the affect VTEC has on Honda cars.

If you feel like the car isn't responding quickly enough to the throttle, you are probably in too
high of a gear. I'm guessing you drive an automatic, huh? Manually shift down into an appropriate gear (say around 3,500 rpms or so) before overtaking and you should be fine.

Boost is not RPM related
Boost (with a turbo anyway) is driven by exhaust and of course can not spool in the absense of LOAD.
Basically, peak boost will occur at different RPM's depending on gear, temp, when and how you stab the throttle, how many people are in the car, etc...
