Current lease specials on '08 as follows...
No money down
$419 per month on quattro
Sticker $34,100
If you can get the sale price down to 30 or 31, you can get payments in the $350-$380 range.
Or, if you buy a care with MSRP of $39, then get them down to $34 and lease will be closer to $419.
Friend in business says dealers should be selling '08 A4 sedans at about 12% off MSRP.

yeah...the elusive deal
at 40k or so, you'll pay a lot more. my Avant was about that price and i pay almost 600/mo on a 36mo lease with 12k miles. S-line lowers the residual by one or two percent, and it seems that the money factor is vastly different from model to model and deal to deal.
Personally I think Audi dealers are lacking transparency and border on illegality with these deals that no consumer can understand...they never quote money factor in the published form (decimal) and write it another way on the lease altogether.
I know one thing...the next car i lease, i'll only negotiate for no money down, audi care no charge and a payment that makes me happy. I don't care what the other numbers say at that point. However....it's hard to negotiate when you don't know what the bottom line is...
Don't even get me started on how they deal with trade-ins...

Audi not alone...
All manufactures have impossible to interpret lease paperwork. Also, it amazes me how infrequently dealers know about national AoA offers. Just leased '08 SE over weekend and dealer wasn't aware of current no money down offer. They presented a typical $3000 down lease offer before I "enlightened" them to the no money down national event... or they were hoping I was ignorant??
Anyway, I've learned not to lease unless at times of no money down offers. It is much easier to understand payment structure. I simply say no money down and I want monthly payment to be X, Y or Z.

I will have a trade in. What should I expect?
I know you said not to get you started on trade-ins, but I want to have all my ducks in a row when I take the plunge. Education is our biggest ally when going to the dealer. I appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks

Recently had trade on MB...
Recently traded E class MB when leasing GL. I had them separate the deals. I wanted a check for the trade and the lease done separately. Otherwise, they will try to take $3-6 grand from trade and put into lease as a down payment to make monthy nut look better. But, why put cash into a lease if you don't have to. After all your renting the car. No sense in padding the dealers pocket up front. Better to pay slightly more per month and take the cash for trade up front... my opinion.
Or... sell the car on your own. Especially if you are going for the current no money down lease on A4 sedan. Dealers will be willing to move significantly on price without a trade... need to purge '08 inventory before Sept.
