S-Line Suspension vs. Regular?

S-Line Suspension vs. Regular?
I've finally been able to locate a black/black 3.2 that is spec'd fairly close to how I wanted it at Audi of Oakland. My only reservation is that it has neither the s-line package nor the $250 sport suspension. After looking at it, I am a little disappointed with the wheel gap, it looks as if it sits about an inch too high. Can anyone here that has driven both a sport suspension and a non give your opinion on the handling differences? Is it significant? I know nothing about lowering, what is a common, cost-effective way to lower about 20 mm and improve handling?

forget about the gap. the handling is totally different.
i've driven both and the non-sport suspension is like driving a buick lesabre. It honestly makes me nauseous.
you might be into that kind of thing, so you should try it out before you set sail.

I have a twincharged Mini Cooper that has Leda coilovers with 400lb
springs in the front and 500lb in the rear so this S-line rides like a cadillac!
I drove both the S-line and the regular A4 and there is quite a difference in handling in my opinion. Unless you are really sensitive to ride quality get the sport suspension.

Same only springs lower / stiffer
Not sure where Street_b is getting his info, or Canadian cars are different.
I'm going off the parts catalog, which show only a spring change for 2006 3.2 quattro manual, sport non sport.
I have stock non-sport, and soon to have sport springs. Front bar is same size as sport, and I have already changed my rear bar to S4 20MM.
Non sport is very stiff, maybe too much so for winter, will let you know how Eibach and stock sports springs work out.

I'm betting that shocks are also different and so is the tuning on power steering. I would also be
surprised if sways where the same. Appart from diameter of sway, you also have to look at material and if its hollow or not. The only sure way to tell is to check if the part number is the same for sport and non sport. There can also be other differences.

You can always change it aftermarket...
I've had two A4s and the current one did not come with sport suspension. I didn't have time to custom order one and did not feel like paying for the s-line package. I drove the car for three months until breaking down and saying I couldn't take it anymore. My sports suspension is being installed today and it includes shocks and springs.
There is a very severe handling difference between sport and non sport. In my current A4 I have to slow down around turns that I would take upwards of 40 or 50 mph in my B6 A4. It really sucks on the way to work because there is some fun driving to be had.
