Default serpentine belt

Can a serpentine failure cause a timing belt issue? Or are they one in the same?
Had a serp belt changed, then had timing belt issue. Service done at Audi service garage.

Thanks!

Timing belt shed its teeth about 1 month after I had the serp belt and valve cover gasket changed. hmm.

More likely that the timing belt tensioner was getting loose and allowed the timing belt to slip a tooth.
