Default Should I buy exhaust now (AWE) or wait for other systems to come out?

AWE is having their sale this week on the exhaust (i have tiptronic) and I am seriously considering buying it. Should I take advantage of this sale or should I wait for other exhaust systems to come out? Im gonna lower my car too and just heard the AWE system hangs kinda low and that it would likely scrape on bumps. buy or no buy?

Default i am going to wait to read reviews on the systems before i buy one. i just don't want to be one

of the first B7's with a new system and run into fitment issues, etc.

there will be other sales.

Default The system does not hang any lower than stock on the B6 or B7. We have never had reports of

scraping. Where did you hear that?

I can assure you that there is no ground clearance issue.

Any questions, let me know!

I have a 3inch down pipe on my Sport Suspended A4, and it fits nicely in the stock location with no rubbing, even over speed bumps.

Default FOr the B6, both the Thermal and the AWE hang a bit lower....

I've seen them both and driven with the Thermal and it is clearly lower. Scratched it up a few times, but nothing major. Never damaged it too bad because of it. Just dented the bottom of the downpipe a bit. If you drive carefully it should not be a problem at all, but yeah, if you took measurements on OEM and the aftermarket it absolutely hangs lower, partly because it is 3" at that section of the DP and midsection, something I like. cheers! Default The B6 and B7 Tip systems reuse the OEM downpipe.

They do not sit any lower than stock at the cross member.

And the person you are linking too must have his car slammed, because even with coilovers set at normal lowering height on our in house B6 A4 manual, there is no damage to the downpipe.

Reports of hanging too low on this system is news to me.

Default Talking about the upgraded 2.5/3 downpipe for quattro models...

Just take a snapshot of the OEM and the 2.5/3" one. It's really not a huge deal but it does sit lower. Here you go...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/bhvrdr/B6exhaustScrape-2.jpg">

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/bhvrdr/B6exhaustscrape-1.jpg">

I dont think it would have been an issue if I was running the stiffer 600lb springs I am now, but the aftermarket springs like NS, HR, Eibach, etc dont have enough spring rate and the supposedly aggressive Bilstein Sport dampers didnt have enough compression stiffness to keep the car from knocking it every once in awhile. It was pretty rare that it happened and it never made me want to return the exhaust. Please don't get the impression that I would ever want something smaller than a 3" exhaust Just wanted to point out that it is a tad lower. cheers! Mike
