Sirius Sportster + shark fin?

Has anyone figured a way to wire a portable Sat. Radio unit into the factory antenna? I got a Sportster and 1-year of service as a gift (through work). I don't have XM or Sirius installed currently, but I don't see why I can't use the existing antenna instead of running a new wire, etc.

The plan is to wire my wife's B6 Avant with the car kit it came with and then be able to move the reciever between cars.

An antenna is optimized for a specific frequency range

Your AM and FM antennae aren't even close to the frequency range used by satellite radio. It won't work.

But isn't the shark-fin also used for XM or Sirius if it's installed???

Cars the come with Sat Radio don't have an extra antenna...

I don't see why not, its plug and play, but the antenna only goes as far as the trunk.

Yes, but they broadcast in the same frequency band...

Neither can utilize the AM/FM antenna. In your original post I thought you said all you had was the standard antenna and not the satellite antenna. If you have a satellite antenna, either service will work fine.
