Default Symphony Radio

This radio sucks. It is okay with the windows up, but totally blows when cruising with the windows down.

Any suggestions? I noticed there are no speakers on the back deck, they are in the doors.

I thought about adding an amp and maybe changing out the factory speakers....

Ya think?

guess it is all perspective..no radio is good with windows down as far as sound quality..I thought the Symphony was great for a stock unit

Best non-premium stereo I've seen.

I could hear the Bose system in my 02 A4 just fine, this radio is a piece of crap, especially sitting in the back seat because of the lack of deck speakers.

since no one goes in the backseat of my car except for my 8 year old, I never noticed it I guess

Just goes to show the addage 'different strokes for different folks' - everything is so subjective that unless you experience it for yourself, it is very hard to glean opinions from others. Example - I consider myself a bit of an audiophile (ameteur of course), and have a properly set up system at home, as well as in one of my cars (Mac amp, Focul utopia's, etc). Overall, for a factory system, I love the std radio and cannot imagine having gone for the Bose. But, others opinions will, as you can see, vary

I agree...Up until about mid volume (No. 15) my symphony II sounds real nice, after that... the bottom falls out and gets muddy (no real tight bass) I REALLY wanted BOSE/NAVI, but I needed a car ASAP and couldn't wait. I'm hoping to upgrade amp and speakers to BOSE system - or something comparable without sacraficing clean OEM lines...

Default It does sound pretty good for OEM. Strange, though... no Avants had Bose outfitted when we searched

So we were "stuck" with the non-Bose. However, based on the Bose performance, or lack thereof, in our former B5 S4 Avant, the regular Symphony system is better, IMHO.
