Temporarily disable alarm while on a ferry?
Puget Sound region, so ferry rides are common. Vibration from the ferry sets off the alarm and I get nasty notes left on my windshield. I've tried not locking it (!!!), but it locks itself after a short while, which then allows the alarm to go off. I'd much rather join my friends whale watching with a cup of coffee than sit in my car on every single ferry ride just to keep the alarm from going off. Is there a way to temporarily disable the alarm so that it can still be useful at other times?

Switching off the tilt sensor should do the trick. It's most likely not the vibration, but ferry movement. Also, the car should not lock itself. I always park my cars in my garage w/o locking them and none of them ever locked themselves. It only locks itself if you unlock the car with the remote, but then don't open any doors withing 30 seconds.
