Just want to get a resonableness check on cost of changing the fluid on a tiptronic. My local shop quoted me $450 to replace fluid, filter and clean the pan. Seems excessive. The shop is usually pretty fair on its prices.

I also go to a respectable & fair independent Audi/VW shop and they're quote is around $400 all said & done. Neither the parts nor the labor are all that expensive - it's the fluid the gets you at over $50 per liter. It's usually a 1.5 hour job with anywhere from 5-7 liters used.

Will they let you bring your own parts? If so, order the Ravenol fluid from Blauparts....$15/L*.

The process is expensive. The filter is grossly over-priced on these cars. We had our A6 done a couple weeks ago and the filter/gasket set was $150.
