Default Tried making a deal today on an S-Line, no dice...

Went back to my local dealer to see if they still had the white S-Line I had been seeing there since July. Of course, it was gone. All they had were black and grey ones which I didn't want. I gave them my info and which type of car I would be interested in and they said they'd check the port and see what's coming in. I am in no rush so that is fine. But if they had that white S-Line, we would have tried to work out a deal right then and there. It's draining you get your hopes up and walk away empty-handed. But I was treated well and I'll be back to try again when they get a car that suites me better. To be continued...

Default Why didnt you ordered one? It would have take about 3 months

and since your not in a hurry, it shouldnt be a problem
you leave a deposit, order it the way you want and voila

There are two cars I would go for. One would have been the white S-Line they already sold. The second would be a special-ordered car with wood wheel. When I brought the special order up, they brushed it off as a rare and hard thing to do as far as getting any sort of discount on. I don't know how accurate that is, and it may require some extra work on their behalf, but they took the route of we'll try to see what's on the way. Reflecting back on what I really want, I rather have the special order car. Like you mentioned, time is on my side and I would estimate the rates are only going to improve as the model year ticks away. (They're sales pitch today was the rates are best now and may go up later... I saw right thru that.) I think I am going to contact them again to see if they'll do an order (or maybe another dealer who is more open to the idea). We still gotta agree on a price too, which we couldn't even do today. It's going to be a long road to make this happen.

Default Also, I am going for a no down deal. They are going to want a deposit

on a car they feel may not sell if I don't stick around to pick it up (I would follow through of course). What can one do when you don't want to put any money down yet want to special order? The car I want will have black leather with birch wood trim. I think it's a beautiful combo that Audi should offer. Does that look like a combo that would be unappealing on a dealer's lot?

Default Re: not true...

They will cash it, but my dealer would take a credit card too.

Default So make your deposit no more than 1st mo. payment

Even if you finance everything including taxes, bank fee, etc, you're going to have to make the first payment upon delivery. Keep your deposit at around the amount of the monthly fee and you should be golden.

Default No cash = not serious

IMHO, Audi dealers don't have to kiss a$$ because there are enough customers that walk in with big checkbook in hand -- anything less, they don't care. You should be able to order what you want for about $1,000 over invoice.
