Wastegate actuator loose / lots of play
Hi everyone,
While driving one day I lost all boost. My first point of calk was to replace the DV, while dong that I noticed that get actuator rod was extremely loose.
Is it possible just to replace the actuator or am I looking at a new turbo also?
Many thanks

It can be adjusted, if it's a 2.0 tfsi you can access it from below if your hands are small enough.
Assuming it's a 2.0T -
Jack car up, support on stand(s)
Remove lower plastic splash shield from under engine
Get a torch to see what you're doing
there's a 10mm nut, get a spanner (wrench) in there,
crack the nut,
tweak the adjuster once or twice (requires two hands) (tweaks not turns - 2 full tweaks = 1 turn - you'll understand when you're under there)
If you are lying underneath with feet coming out to the front of the car
Right hand down, left hand up (fingers actually) to tighten it.
It's tricky and hurts but it can be done.
Basically righty tighty, two tweaks, from below.
Alternatively there's the caveman method - get a bar in from below and bend the wastegate actuator can and bracket away from the turbo (works but NOT recommended LOL)

Oh wow, sorry just watched the video......yeah that's not good, looks like the rod is moving without any resistance from spring.
You can buy an actuator and it can be replaced with turbo on car, done it a couple of times.
Once you put the new one on, screw the adjuster onto the rod bit by bit, use your hand to check when the wastegate JUST shuts, then tighten by a couple of tweaks.
If it rattles on overrun when you drive it, add a tweak or two.
