Default width?

for a 8.5" rim I think it is around 35mm for the offset. that is the most you can take the wheel out.

whth 18's and a low profile tire you will have to lower the car.

yes width, l have lower the car but with 18" it's still look small, l think l should go for 235/40/18" and hopefully it looks nicer.

Cheers

Default That was a question he asked

Do you want 8, 8.5 or 9" wide rims? Offset would need to change.

ok.. I dont think that chaning the tire size is going to help with any gaps (far as offset is conserned). An 8.5" rim should have about a 245/40/18 or so. If you want the tire to be taller go with a 245/45 or 50/18.

245 - width of tire in milimeters (mm)
40 - height of tire in mm as a ratio of the 245
18 - rim diameter
offset - distance from the mounting surface to the imaginary center line of the rim. A smaller offset will set the rim closer to the fender (extend it out). A larger offset will move the rim in.

the 245 is not going to change because your rim is always going to be 8.5"s wide, if you want the tire to be taller, and not have so much of a low profile look, increase the middle number.

Yes I am being nice. There are many.. I say again MANY calcuatlors and tutorials for offset and tire size on the web. They may help you understand tire size and rim offset.

hope that helps and maybe it will help you ask a better question.

Closest to stock would be 235/40/18. Offset on an 8.5" rim = et32 to et35
