What's everyone's experience with the windshield softness?
My B5 is getting trading in tomorrow for a B7 and it's (the B5's) windshield looks terrible. It's covered with pitting. What has everyone's experience with their B7's windshield been?

Some asshat either took a shot at my windshield with a pellet gun or a sling
Scared the hell out of me as I heard this loud bang on my windshield (this is in rush our traffic in the city so there's no way a stone could have been kicked up by a moving car, especially when there was nobody moving in either direction). Left a small chip on the windshield, though guessing if it was a direct hit my windshield would have shattered.
Took a few large stones off the windshield on the highway, and swore it would have cracked the windshield but nothing yet. Seems stronger than the one on my old B5 which had two cracks from stones kicked up on the highway.

My B7 windshield already looks horrible
Scratches and pits all over. Hardly drove it in the winter. Never had a problem with my B5 or B6 but the ice scraper I used on them has left scratches on my B7. Im annoyed

My windshield has pits...
although 2 or 3 times my windshield has been hit very hard with gravel to where I way sure it would have been cracked. Only little pits were left. I guess pits are better than cracks.

The ice scraper i used during the winter has surprisingly left marks. Apart from that the stones though havent been big enough has left pits all over. I definitely doubt that the windscreen is too soft compared to what the expectations are for normal performance and quality.
Its a major disappointment so far

I don't think you'll find a significant difference in quality between the B5 and B7 windshields..
My B5 would attract just about every f'in pebble in the road...including those from the counterflow lanes. I've had the B7 for only 5000+ miles now, but i've already got plenty of pits.
I've read somewhere in this forum that although these windshields pit easily, they are pretty decent in terms of collision (i.e., the glass is less likely to pepper you with shards in an accident)
