Default I went from B6 with Bose to B7 without Bose and don't miss it at all.

Sound quality is highly subjective. Bring a favorite CD to a dealership & have a test listen, preferably right after listening to it in your B6.

Subjective Opinion: Personally, I have yet to hear good sound from anything Bose.

I find the difference minimal & not worth the money. But you should do the CD test I mentioned.

Default I know everyone rags on Bose

the Bose I had in my 99.5 A4 was nothing special, but the Bose in my '00 A6 was amazing.

The HK in my Saab is surprisingly good, the Monsoon in my GTI was very good for CDs but terrible for FM radio.

Default I A/B tested the standard and Bose systems before ordering my B7

The Bose system was clearly better sounding. Much better imaging and detail.

Since then I've taken delivery of the car, and am generally happy with the sound. I would be regretting it if I hadn't got the upgrade.

I'll say that I'm definitely not a fan of Bose home equipment -- I think it's cheap and the sound is hyped to appeal to unsophisticated listeners. I'm more of an NAD/Monitor Audio kinda guy. But they did a pretty good job with this system. Not worth $1000 though (especially if you don't care about Sat radio).

Also, I listen mostly to acoustic and roots-rock sorts of music -- YMMV on harder/edgier music.

Happy choosing,
Dave

and it cuts in and out. never had that issue on my B6 with bose.

Default Totally agree....

The Bose in my A4 is not the best car system I've heard, but it's not bad. Imaging is good, and overall sound is pleasing. I have no problem with volume on CD's. Satellite radio sound is compressed and not as good, but that's the satellite, not the car's sound system.
