Will my old B5 wheels fit my B7?

I want to put some snow tires on my old 16" wheels (pictured) and use these on my B7 A4 -- is the bold pattern/offset the same?

Thanks!

your link is broken, but I don't think any stock B5 16" wheels will clear the B7 A4 brakes

Maybe. But probably not. *edited*

The bolt pattern and offset are the same.
However the issue is with the brake clearance. The B7 has larger brake rotors than the B5, and the calipers are a bit bigger too.

If your wheels fit over the B5 S4 brakes, then they *should* fit over the B7 brakes. There are a bunch of aftermarket 16" wheels which will fit. However I am not sure if any of the factory 16" wheels will fit. The old 7-spoke Swing wheels definitely will not fit. I don't think the '97 5-spoke wheels will fit either. However the 10-spoke wheels *might* fit.

*EDIT* I just saw your fixed link. Your wheels are the Swing wheels. Same wheels that came stock with my '98. Would not fit over larger brakes because of the inward curve of the spokes. You might be able to use them with spacers though.

I had put Boxster brakes on my '98 A4, and got a set of Ronal R28 S4 fitment wheels (there was a difference between the A4 and S4 fitment). The R-28 is a similar design to the Swings, which I like a lot. I had planned to keep them for my B7, but I sold them to the guy who bought my car.
I ended up finding a set of Borbet 16" wheels in the classifieds which fit nicely.

Ugh! Thank you for the explanation:)

Well then anyone want a set of 16" swing wheels with Dunlops on them?? haha, I'll put em in classif.

16's that clear B7 caliper...

I had the same problem. I had same rims as you on as winters on my B6. They didn't clear the calipers.

This is pic of oem 16" i bought as winters. They just clear the caliper.

Ohhh I get it, the outside will rub. I was thinking the front. Thanks

Pelican Pete 03-02-2009 07:13 AM

Depends on the wheel.

Nice to dig up an old thread. :-)

Some wheels don't have enough inside diameter, and will rub against the outside of the caliper. Your Swing wheels have enough inside diameter, but the spokes curve in, so they would contact the front corner of the caliper.
Other wheels have thicker rims, such as the '96-97 5-spoke wheels. They don't have enough inside diameter.

Some people have used Swings with aftermarket brakes using wheels spacers.
