Working on a buddy's B7: Has Nav/premium sound. Can I tap into rear sub for signal for amp?
#2
I did but -
non-nav, symphonyII here:
It is a massaged signal. At higher levels the stock HU cuts the sub so it won't clip. At low levels you get WAY too much bass compensating for it.
I am still looking for a better way to do it. I don't want to invest the $300+ into a JL cleansweep (which may or may not work on *only* the sub) or the RF 3sixty (simmilar product)
If someone finds, or knows of, a better way I am interested too! I'd be ok with tapping to the rear signal going to the amp if it will give me an uncorrected signal for the sub - but I havn't read that it will, or tried it :/

That's exactly what I did.. One problem though..
Well, more or less. I cut the wire to the factory sub and used a butt connector to join it to a high-level to line-level converter and out to my amp and sub.
Sounds fantastic with the Bose stereo, the only thing that drives me crazy is that in my '06 w/ premium sound+technology the auto-sound level adjuster which uses a microphone to sense background noise as opposed to vehicle speed with svc always wants to limit my max bass when I hit around a "20" volume and crank it up when the main volume is low say below 10.
SVC could at least be disabled. This "feature" can't and even says so in the manual and it drives me nuts that I'm forced to have it on all the time. Lame lame lame.
