Default X-Post: Trying to convince my dad to get an A3 or A4... Help!

Ok, my dad wants an economical daily-driver to go to work and back (about 10 miles city driving one way). My brother bought a scion tC and he wants one of those but I think an A3 or an A4 with the 2.0t would be so much cooler. Can you guys give me some selling points I should pitch to him?

Audis are not the most economical drives. Should opt for japanese cars. No offence meant, but...Audis usually are more appealing to youthful drivers

Default It's easy to find out if he's an Audi guy or a Toyota guy...

Have him drive both the tC and an A3. If he can't tell the difference then he should buy the tC and be happy with the money he saved.

I am "into" cars and The Audi just 'feels' right to me. I enjoy the solid feel, the understated interior and I think driving a car you don't see everywhere is kinda cool. I used to be a Toyota and Honda guy until a friend let me drive his VR6 Corrado. It ruined Toyotas and Hondas for me and set me to lusting after German cars.

I envy folks who give no more thought to which car to buy than they do which laundry soap to purchase. They can buy cars based on simple data: gas mileage, reliability, price, rebates, ect. and be perfectly happy.

On second thought, don't make your dad drive an A3, ignorance is bliss.

Default Agree 100%.

Except in my case a ride in an APR Stage 3 B5 did it for me.

Default Well put!

The Audi GT Coupe did it for me. Now I'm completely spoiled.
