2008 A4
Just picked up a 2008 A4 2.0T with 25K miles - nice shape and clean. Want to introduce myself and ask what I should check out and pay attention to maintenance wise. I traded an 02 Passat w/150K miles so I am familiar with doing good maintenance. Also have an 09 Jetta Wolfsburg with the 2.0 T engine but it's a TSI and I believe the A4 is an FSI.
Also, does the engine have a full cover or is the side over the coil packs open - this one is open over the coil packs and iot looks like half the cover is missing.

That looks like half the cover is gone - over the coilpacks ?! I guess that's the way it is. My Passat had the entire area covered. Thanks for the pic.

The '09- 2.0 TFSI motor has a full cover (no coil packs visible). The oil filler cap is located in the middle of the cover.
As for your '08 FSI motor, as you can see, the oil filler cap is at the edge of what appears to be a half cover. If it bothers you, I am sure that there are aftermarket covers such as Neuspeed and many others that might make it easier on the eyes.
I guess I am just old school. First thing I did on my E55 was remove the engine cover and have the magnesium intake on display. I'm no fan of engine covers per se but if there is going to be one, I think it should cover the whole top of the motor not just one half side of the top...
