Default 2009 A4 B8: Nut versions for securing track control link and guide link

Hi - I'm replacing all suspension arms + shock. Manual says that different Nut versions for securing track control link and guide link - need to be tightened to different torques. Description given is and 2 images or a nut attached to a washer -A- and a nut with a washer that is attached to the nut but can rotate -B-:
i) Hexagon flange nut -A- (M12) width
across flats: 21 mm
Tightening torque: 145 Nm

ii) Hexagon nut with washer -B- (M12)
width across flats: 18 mm
Tightening torque: 110 Nm

iii) Hexagon nut with washer -B- (M12)
width across flats: 21 mm
Tightening torque: 120 Nm

iv) Hexagon nut with washer -B- (M14)
width across flats: 21 mm
Tightening torque: 140 Nm

But i dont't fully understand their description as the nut is an M18 (i.e. 18mm diameter) and I don't understand what they mean about 'width across flats' as the numbers they give correspond to no dimension that I can see on the nut that I'm using.
Any one enlighten me please ?
Thank you,
Gabriel

My service manual copy uses different wording. It appears 18mm and 21mm refers to the socket size used for the M12 combi nut So I'd guess you'd use 110Nm.
