2009 A4 Sunroof Problem
Hello. I am looking for advice on how to repair my sunroof. The driver side of the sunroof refuses to open in both directions at first. After taking the sunroof motor out and cleaning the mechanism, it will open up but not back. Now that it opens up, it doesn't close properly - closing lower on the driver side than the passenger.
A couple of the guides on the track appear to be damaged and the chain (blue circle) loops out by about 2 inches where the red circle is when I attempt to open the sunroof. I couldn't force the chain in There doesn't appear to be anything stuck when I took a photo into the cavity, as well as after removing the accordian; but there must be something preventing the chain from going to towards the driver side of the car.
What's my next step? I appreciate any advice that you can share. Thank you.

Is this a sedan or wagon? I've had to replace the frame for my panoramic sunroof on my wagon; don't know if the sedan sunroof uses similar tech.
Either way, you should be able to remove the moving glass so you can move the slides independently to check the smoothness of the cable motion.
But with a kink in the bowden cable, I suspect it will be subject to jacking itself at any time without replacing the frame (you can't get the slides or cables separately).
I'm also a little confused on what you are trying to describe. The wording is not quite specific or conclusive.
Are you saying that it opens and closes but the glass doesn't sit correctly in the closed position?
Or that it will open but will not close? Or will close some from a fully open position but then stops closing at some point?
