Default 2010 A4 B8 1.8 oil in coolant.

Hi all, new to AW, not to German cars and their issues.
In saying that, my A4 has a chronic oil in coolant issue, same as you'd expect from the earlier models, so I expect oil cooler/seals etc but I haven't seen anything listed anywhere for this issues on this model.
Has anyone encountered this problem and what where the findings in the case of that issue in your car?
Any heads up info would be appreciated, we are in the early stages of pull down to fix this (hopefully) and any direction while we're at it is appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

if it is just a little amount of oil, it could even be the cylinder head. If it is a lot, could be an oil cooler, or the radiator if it is an auto.

Thanks rattsan,
unfortunately its a lot of oil, pours out via the overflow bottle. It depletes the engine oil so was thinking oil cooler myself but always happy to hear from the experience of others. Sometimes it makes all the difference. Head gasket was also in my mind, but will attack the easier tasks first. Still a bit of hit and miss...

Have you drained the oil and flushed the coolant and then bi-passed the oil cooler and ran the engine . It shouldn't be a problem to do this as a test to verify if it is the cooler.

In the process of that as time permits. It's a mess in there.

UPDATE:
Have changed oil cooler (& gaskets) which seemed to work, but suspected something not right as it would not seem to clear all the oil from the coolant. Well a hot day driving at highway speed saw it happen again but not the same, nor as bad. Didn't overheat, never has. This time it's not pumping the sump dry but made muck of the coolant again ad s,ells awful. Last time I flushed it over 30 times, but never quite cleaned up 100%. Now we know why. Funny though because it seems to have stopped or at least slowed down. What a strange thing it is. Any bells ringing out there..??

Maybe, I've had that in the back of my mind too. Only it doesn't behave (or misbehave) like a faulty head gasket. I'd hate to get it off and find it wasn't it...

Do a compression and leak down test to verify.
