Default 2010 A4 MMi Joystick location

Hello

For a 2010 a4 in canada what determines where the mmi joystick controls are located. Ive seen them in the center of the front seats around the gear shifter, I have also seen them mounted on the radio area. I have read that cars without the navigation have them on the radio and with nav in the center around the gear shifter.

I have also heard that certain packages like premium determine where they are.

Any help would be appreciated.

MMI control on the console = 3G navigation
MMI control on the dash = no navigation

Only 2 ways it's built in North America.

Hope this helps.

For a simple explanation, Canuk has nailed it...

If you want a little more detail, here goes:
The location of the main control **** /scroll wheel & buttons within the radio (ie just below the center air vent outlets)indicates that you have an "Audi Concert" (single CD) or an "Audi Symphony" (6-CD stack) type of radio. This unit displays on the 6.5 inch colour LCD screen (400x240 resolution) above it and is referred to as an "Infotainment" system. Technically this is not MMI, although often referred to as such.

If you have a true MMI system, you will have a higher resolution and slightly larger colour LCD (7 inch), and the control **** etc will be just aft of the gear selector, in prime coffee spilling territory.
This system includes the HDD for storage of music, an inbuilt NAV system, and the option of reversing camera. Both systems have SD card slots for music.
