Uggh. Pretty nasty incarnation of an Outback. Just get the Q5 truck.

What makes the Q5 a better option than an All-Road? I'm not a fan of the black/gray combo but it would look great on Quartz or Monza.

Well, nothing. A poseur truck is not a good option. The image of the Audi looks just wrong. A compromise of something. To the point it competes with the Q5 truck. Jacked up like the current Outback, it just looks wrong. We cross shopped the current Outback and decided it was just way too ugly to be seen in. The previous generation was acceptable, as it was not so huge.

Are you calling the Q5 or All-Road a Poseur truck? They're both built on the exact same chassis. With similar ground clearance and less weight, the AR should be a better performer. The AR will also have a bit more cargo room than a Q5. If they make the AR, I can't see a reason to even consider the Q5 unless it's less expensive or you prefer the false sense of security driving an SUV brings. If it's a purely cosmetic issue then I agree that no matter how much better or worse either actually is, go with the one you think is prettier.

I'm not a big fan of phoney-baloney plastic cladding intended to beef up the appearance. It's like fake muscles.

The Q5 is a poseur truck. AR is an Outback. Not a fan of crossdressing.

I think it's there to keep people from bitching about their paint getting jacked up when driving off-road.

Ahhhhh, I hear ya. When I drove the Q5 I actually really liked it but the incredibly bad option/engine combos made staying with an Avant a much easier choice. Plus my wife wants a Q5 and having two seemed sily. That and I'm really a wagon man anyway.

DSG? Yeah right...

The most likely powertrain combination will be the 211-bhp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, mated exclusively to Audi’s 7-speed dual-clutch S tronic automated manual gearbox.
